Typical Game
1) A typical game would start with one player sending an email to Equate@hekman.net with the New Game command:
To: Equate@hekman.net Cc: player2@somewhere.com, player3@somewhere.else.edu From: player1@home.org Subject: new game2) The person who sent the command, as well as everyone listed in the Cc: header, would receive in reply an email listing the new Game ID, something like this:
To: player1@home.org Cc: player2@somewhere.com, player3@somewhere.else.edu From: Equate@hekman.net Subject: Your Game ID is [EQ99-012-34567]3) The next step is to choose who will play first. You can do this by Drawing one tile each, then using the Return command to put them all back in the pool. Personally I find that takes too long, so I suggest flipping a coin or going in alphabetical order or something. If you choose to Draw tiles, make sure everyone has Returned their tile before going on to the next step.
4) The last step before playing is to pick your starting nine tiles. To do this, each player should reply to the email they received in step (2), putting the Draw command in the Subject, like this:
To: Equate@hekman.net From: player1@home.org Subject: Re: Your Game ID is [EQ99-012-34567] -- Draw 9 (or for a cleaner look you can leave just the game id and the command: Subject: [EQ99-012-34567] Draw 9)5) In return, Equate-Master will send you an email with nine tiles on the first line of the body:
To: player1@home.org From: Equate@hekman.net Subject: Re: Your Game ID is [EQ99-012-34567] -- Draw 9 Here are your 9 new tiles: 8 * * 1/2 3/4 3 + = 4 (141 remaining)6) When each player has their nine tiles, the first player chooses an equation and places it on his/her board at home, emails all the other players to tell them what was played, where, and how many points it made, then again issues the Draw command.
7) Step (6) is repeated by each player until the game is over.
